Hi, Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid- What's that?
Do you spot the ingredient Hyaluronic Acid also known as HA, often in your skincare products? Don't worry, it's definitely not toxic or bad for your skin. Hyaluronic acid is also known as hyaluronan, which a clear gel like substance that is naturally produced by skin. The largest amounts are found in your skin, connective tissues and eyes. It’s a unique molecule that has the capacity to bind and retain water molecules, thus keeping your skin moist and hydrated. Each molecule has the ability to hold 1,000 times its weight in moisture.
So, if it’s found in our skin, then why do we need to use products containing hyaluronic acid? Our body produces less and less of this as we age. Other factors such as exposure to UV radiation from the sun, smoke and pollution also decreases the amount of hyaluronic acid in our skin, and that’s why our skin becomes drier, rougher and fine lines become more noticeable. Hence why this super ingredient is found in many anti-aging products; for its hydrating and anti-aging abilities.
There's no need for concern with the "Acid" in it's name. It doesn’t strip the skin, instead it delivers lightweight hydration where your skin needs it. Regularly using a product, such as serums and moisturisers containing hyaluronic acid can help rejuvenate skin, maintain hydration, plump and leave skin looking firmer and more radiant.
Most skin types will benefit from the hyaluronic acid moisture-boosting properties and it’s super easy to incorporate into your daily routine. We recommend applying a hyaluronic serum morning noon and night, followed by a moisturiser to keep the moisture locked in. As it’s a naturally occurring component in our bodies, there is a pretty low risk of irrational or allergic reaction, however if in doubt do a patch test to see how your skin will react.
